Memento is a surprisingly warm cotton scarf, stole, and swaddle made from yarn spun on an ancient Japanese "gara-bo" machine, of which only a few remain in existence and in operation. The spinning technology that has remained unchanged for 150 years is tremendously inefficient and the yarns are unevenly thick, but they hold a lot of air and are woven into a waffle structure with a warmth and tenderness that evokes an old Japanese scene.The kindness that reminds us of is woven into the waffle organization.
